MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENT 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a relevant field with minimum 5 years of experience in marine engineering, with hands-on experience in landing craft or similar vessels.
  • Experience will be considered only upon submission of an official reference letter explicitly stating the duration of employment.


OVERALL SCOPE

Responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of landing craft vessels and their mechanical systems while leading technical teams and maintaining compliance with maritime standards.


SCOPE OF WORK 

  • Conduct routine inspections of landing craft vessels, propulsion systems, and auxiliary machinery and identify and report defects affecting seaworthiness.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and carry out complex repairs on marine diesel and petrol engines, including propulsion, hydraulic, and onboard mechanical systems.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure maximum vessel availability and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee all maintenance and servicing activities for landing craft, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Ensure vessels meet all operational safety and maritime compliance requirements before deployment.
  • Maintain detailed records of vessel maintenance, engine performance, spare parts usage, and technical faults.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and marine engineering drawings to plan and execute repairs.
  • Select appropriate tools, materials, and repair methods using advanced technical knowledge and marine industry best practices.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior mechanics and technical staff in marine maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Monitor inventory of spare parts and coordinate procurement to ensure availability of critical components.
  • Stay updated with advancements in marine engineering technologies, equipment, and maintenance techniques.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.


JOB SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong expertise in marine diesel and petrol engines, propulsion systems, hydraulics, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex mechanical and vessel-related issues.
  • Solid understanding of maritime safety standards, regulatory requirements, and seaworthiness principles.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities under operational pressure.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with operations teams and reporting to management.
  • Should maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Should be well organized, detail-oriented, forward-thinking and proactive.  
  • Should be able to priorities tasks and manage one's own time effectively.
