Legal Counsel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENT 

• Degree in Law and a licensed member of the Bar Council of Maldives.
• Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience.

OVERALL SCOPE

Assist in attending court and arbitration proceedings, preparing relevant legal documents, reviewing and drafting contracts, laws, regulations, policies, and other legal documentation.

SCOPE OF WORK 

• Draft contracts and legal documents, ensuring accuracy and precision.
• Facilitate the translation of legal documents from English to Dhivehi and vice-versa, as required.
• Conduct regular and thorough reviews of laws and regulations, providing recommendations to management on their integration into the Corporation’s existing policies and procedures.
• Assist in taking appropriate measures against those who breach agreements, and prepare all necessary court documents.
• Offer legal opinions and advice to both management and individual departments on various matters.
• Assist in the preparation of litigation documents and fulfill other departmental requirements.

JOB SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

• Ability to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
• Ability to examine legal data to determine the advisability of defending or prosecuting a lawsuit.
• Ability to organize and coordinate the paralegal activities of a specific work area.
• Ability to write persuasively using legal terminology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Dhivehi.
• Should be familiar with the Microsoft Office package and any other relevant software.
• Should be well-organized, detail-oriented, forward-thinking, and proactive.
• Should be able to prioritize tasks and manage one's own time effectively.
• Should be able to work as an individual and team player.

SALARY PACKAGE

Gross Salary of MVR 19,000.00
